The Ingenio currently has a total of 703 sugar cane growers among small, medium and large producers, making a total of 6,412, who are distributed in the areas of Ahuachapán, Atiquizaya, Chalchuapa, El Refugio, Santa Ana and Armenia. In order to improve the profitability of sugarcane farmers, the main actions carried out have been to improve the tons of cane per acre. This has been achieved through transfer programs, technical staff and agricultural loans. In addition, with those sugarcanees classified as third parties, who represent 84.72%, whose 5,432 acres are distributed in small plots, which derive between 0.25 and 10 acres, land that is in the hands of 594 cane growers, since only 10 cane growers have properties above 100 acres.
